NCCC Buffalo 7 in Rhode Island – 10/2/11
AmeriCorps NCCC's Buffalo 7 Team helped in Rhode Island after Tropical Storm Irene caused power outages for 80% of state's residents due to falling trees and limbs. In 10 days Buffalo 7 removed 27,000 pounds of tree debris, completing 24 work orders and helping 42 residents. Justice Talks – AmeriCorps in Rhode Island – 9/15/11
Justice Talks is a 6-week civic reflection workshop for Rhode Island AmeriCorps members. It takes place mid-Winter from January through March, meeting 2 hours each Friday morning, for 6 consecutive weeks. Thoughtful readings are assigned and discussed to reflect on social conditions that are experienced in the course of national service.

RI Senior Serve Corps Volunteer Fair – 5/23/11
With a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service, Volunteer Generation Fund, Serve Rhode Island has launched an effort to recruit and place 3,000 new volunteers, with a special focus on recruiting seniors into volunteer action.
Adria Katz - Charter Corps, RI AmeriCorps Member – 5/20/11
Rhode Island's AmeriCorps members are celebrated this 2011 National AmeriCorps Week. This focus story on Adria Katz provides a window to the experience of AmeriCorps. The interview took place during the April 2011 Vacation Camp at Providence City Arts for Youth. The camp is a collaboration between two AmeriCorps programs: Providence City Arts for Youth Extended Day Teaching Artists Program and the Charter Corps. Adria is a member of the Charter Corps, a collaborative program between Times Squared Academy and Highlander Charter School.
National AmeriCorps Week Waterfire Providence – 5/20/11
Rhode Island's AmeriCorps members are celebrated this 2011 National AmeriCorps Week. Waterfire Providence and Serve Rhode Island collaborated to provide an opportunity for RI's AmeriCorps members to be torch bearers and lighters for the May 18, 2011 Waterfire. AmeriCorps member Vincent De Jesus of the Charter Corps is featured.

OSEEC Environmental Stewards – 4/25/11
The Ocean State Environmental Education Collaborative (OSEEC) is a strategic effort by Rhode Island's leading environmental organizations to improve science proficiency and environmental literacy among students in the state's urban core cities. AmeriCorps members with science and education degrees teach environmental-based science in school, after school and in the field. In this video third graders from Central Falls are introduced to the natural environment, helping them to become environmentally-literate, active citizens.
Pawtuxet River Clean Up – 4/25/11
On April 16 & 17, 2011, 232 volunteers, led by Serve Rhode Island and the Pawtuxet River Authority, cleaned tons of debris left by the March 2010 flood in Norwood and Tirocchi Field. Several tons of debris and litter were collected.
Serve Rhode Island Roger Williams Park Pond Clean Up - 4/22/11
On April 16, 2011, 290 volunteers led by AmeriCorps members of the Ocean State Environmental Education Collaborative (OSEEC) cleaned up the ponds at Roger Williams Park in Providence Rhode Island. For the third year in a row, OSEEC led teams of volunteers to collect tons of litter and trash from the ponds. This project has been sponsored annually by Serve Rhode Island, with the help of some friends.
Providence Children's Museum Family Night – 3/18/11
Providence Children's Museum AmeriCorps program helps to close the achievement gap between advantaged and disadvantaged children through stimulating hands-on learning experiences not available to most low-income children. On March 16, 2011, Family Night was the culmination of the Corps's Learning Club for Pawtucket. All the parents and children enjoyed the evening of fun and exploration.
